Cheyenne’s Destiny is a 220-page story about Frank Kincaid; his wife, Cassandra along with his 24-year-old son, Morgan and his 21-year-old daughter Cheyenne who arrived in Marble, Colorado in 1894. To Frank, settling near the mining town of Marble made perfect sense. Marble was near the towns of Carbondale and Redstone and a bit further away was Denver. The area was booming with both settlers and businesses.
One thing ranchers and townsfolk’s had in common was that everyone needed a horse to get from ranches to towns and the mines. Three years later, Frank had no idea that on that spring morning horse thieves would attack his ranch to steal his quarter horses, killing everyone but his daughter.
As a handsome cowboy made his way down the mountain, he saw the rustler’s attack their ranch and raced down the trail to save the family. Carl Jackson was able to kill the rustler’s, but only Cheyenne was found alive, near death. She was bleeding very badly, and he had no time to lose if he was to save her life. Little did either of them realize that love would grow out of his compassion for her and his love for horses.

Repetitive and very drawn out with the same scenario over and over. I would not recommend this author again. Wanted to learn a little about this area and not much substance or knowledge about the subject matter.Product details

Frank & Cassandra bought the old Bates ranch deciding to raise & sell quarter horses. Their son Morgan and daughter Cheyenne complete the family & being 24 and 21 respectively are able to help out on the ranch. While going about their usual chores one morning they are attacked by five men who want to steal the horses & the family are murdered without thought. Cassandra was in the house & upon hearing the gunfire grabs a Winchester & runs out on the porch where she is attacked by one of the men & stabbed several times. Carl Jackson is coming down the hillside on his way to Marble when he sees what is about to happen but he is too far away to prevent it.
He manages to kill all five men & saves Cheyenne from death.
Between all the tears, which seem to be a trademark of this writer & add to it the descriptions time after time of Cheyenne using a bowl as a bedpan I was totally turned off by this book.
I am very disappointed in the books I've read so far with the exception of "Revenge Is Best Served Cold." I'm thinking you have to pick & choose among the books because it seems his earlier books are nothing but tearful accounts of women in the old west. The women seem weak & uneventful. I would not recommend this series unless you carefully pick through & find a venue that attracts your reading preferences.
Going by the publish date the first five are not all that worth reading in my opinion.
I grew up watching all the usual wester tv series and as I read this authors book, it was as if I were watching the story unfold before my eyes. Cheyenne was strong yet also vulnerable. I really enjoyed this book.
